Mupattu velli /മുപ്പട്ടു വെള്ളി
ഞായര് ചൊവ്വ വെള്ളി എന്നിവ കൊടിയാഴ്ചകള് (അഥവാ രൂക്ഷമായ) ആണെന്നുണ്ട്. ഈ ദിവസങ്ങളില് ഭഗവതിയെ പൂജിയ്ക്കുന്നത് വളരെ നല്ലതാണ്. അതില് വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് കുറച്ചധികം പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. മാസത്തില് ആദ്യം വരുന്ന വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് കൂടുതല് പ്രാധാന്യമുണ്ട്. മലയാളമാസത്തില് മുന്പിട്ടു വരുന്ന വെള്ളിയാഴ്ചയ്ക്ക് മുപ്പെട്ടു വെള്ളി എന്നു പറയുന്നു. ജ്യോത്സ്യത്തില് ശുക്രനെക്കൊണ്ട് ഗണപതിയെയും രാജരാജേശ്വരിയേയും ചിന്തിയ്ക്കേണ്ട സന്ദര്ഭങ്ങളുണ്ട്. സന്ദര്ഭപ്രകാരം പുരുഷവിഷയമ വരുകയാണെങ്കില് ഗണപതിയെ വിചാരിയ്ക്കണം. അതിനാലാകും വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഗണപതിയ്ക്കും പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ളതായിത്തീര്ന്നു.
നമ്മള് ക്ഷേത്രം സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ നന്മയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി നമ്മുടേതായ രീതിയില് പ്രവര്ത്തിയ്ക്കാന് ബാദ്ധ്യസ്ഥരാണ്. അതുകൊണ്ട് മുപ്പട്ടുവെള്ളി ദിവസം ഗണപതിഹോമവും ഭഗവതിസേവയും നടത്തുന്നു. ഗണപതിഹോമം എല്ലാ ഉന്നമനങ്ങള്ക്കും കാരണമായ ഗണപതിയെ ഉദ്ദേശിച്ചുള്ളതാണ് എന്ന് പ്രത്യേകം പറയേണ്ടതില്ലല്ലോ. സമൂഹത്തിന്റെ ആദ്ധ്യാത്മികവും ഭൗതികവും ആയ ഉയര്ച്ചയ്ക്കാണ് നമ്മള് ക്ഷേത്രത്തില് ഗണപതിയ്ക്ക് പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള മുപ്പട്ടുവെള്ളിയാഴ്ച ഗണപതിഹോമം നടത്തുന്നത്. ഭഗവതിസേവ എന്നത് ഭഗവതിയ്ക്കുള്ള പൂജതന്നെ ആണ്.

ദുരിതമകലാനും, ഭയം മുതലായത് നീങ്ങാനും, ആത്മപ്രസാദമുണ്ടാകാനും മറ്റും ഭഗവതിയെ ഉപാസിയ്ക്കുന്നത് വളരെ നല്ലതാണ്.
English Translation of the above:
All days in a week are not the same: Sunday, Tuesday and Friday are regarded as less favourable (less yielding and may be harsh). It is rewarding to worship and propitiate Bhagavathi on these days. Among these three days Friday has greater significance. And the first Friday has even more significance. The first Friday in a Malayalam month is called “muppattu velli”. In astrology there are occasions when one has to think about Ganapathi and Rajarajeswari in relation to the position of Venus or Sukra. If it is on behalf of a male personality one has to remember Ganapathi. Maybe because of this, Fridays are important to worship Ganapathi.
We are obliged to maintain our temple activities according to our traditions for the well being of the community. Therefore we conduct Ganapathi homam and Bhagavathi Seva on every muppattu velli.
Needless to say that Ganapathi homam is for Ganapathi, the doer of all that are for prosperity. It is for the adhyatmika as well as the physical prosperity of the community that we conduct Ganapathi homa on muppattu velli, the day that is important to worship Ganapathi.
Bhagavathi seva is nothing other than worshiping and propitiating Bhagavathi.

It is rewarding to worship Bhagavathi to avoid sufferings and fear and to realize one’s own soul.
Sankatahara Chathurthi
This is an auspicious day to propitiate Lord Ganesha. Observe vratham by fasting throughout the day, perform Ganesh Pooja and then break the fast. It is believed by the grace of Lord Ganesha all obstacles will turn into opportunities.
